After a month at school, they organise a 'welcome back to school'-week, aka HOMECOMING!!
I've really been looking forward to this. It's a week full of activities with the dance as it's grand finale.
Today was the first day. All the walls of the hallways are entirely covered in posters and the theme today was geek. Everywhere are people with geek glasses and rainbow socks in sandals. Awesome ^^

Half past four -.- I had to wake up at half past four....
So I could be at school at six. Because the newschannel Fox13 came today to film our school and we as lucky Cross Country had to run in de background at six o'clock...
But we got pancakes as breakfast :)
If you want to try and found me: http://fox13now.com/2013/09/18/cool-school-mountain-crest-high-school/
Today's dresscode was cowboy.
After school I had a home meet. Five kilometer and it went quite well. Only someone made me trip at the beginning of the race, so something hurts a lot in my foot.
After the race I went back to school to join my musical group at the parade. We sat on a pick-up truck and we're all dressed as pirates while we threw candy and flyers around.
I had a whale of a time and I almost got a child killed, but she's uninjured so that's nothing to worry about. Just never try to hand out flyers to children while driving forty miles an hour.
After the parade we went to the footballfield for powderpuff. It's a game where the girls play football and the boys are cheerleading (very disturbing) It was very cold, but Seth was so kind to let me steal his dramapresident's jacket.
And after that the moment had finally arrived that Melissa took us to the subway. I ate an entire footlong in five minutes. I hadn't eaten anything since nine am. So I could have eaten a cow.
For some reason American people eat chicken-waffle chips...

School spirit day! Every game and pepassembly I feel like I'm back in the Netherlands, because the Mountain Crest colours are Blue and Orange. So today felt like soccerchampionships in Holland.

We left at six in the morning for a five hour drive. Today we went to Boise. That's in Idaho! I've already been in four different states, but I don't really realise it, because the cultures are the same.
The Boise race is for the top 25 runners of our XC team (so definately not me). We went with the whole family, because Saige was running and I had to take pictures for the yearbook.
After the race we went to our hotel and then out for dinner:
All you can eat. And yes, I ate a lot...
It is now officially a fact that I can't sleep in an American hotel without freezing all night long. I also don't know why...
We had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. My church youthgroup had set up a skype connection so I could 'be' there.
It was a lot of fun and I was really happy to see everyone. Afterward I got really homesick... But I guess that's something you have to accept when you're an exchange student.
And that is the end of homecoming week. Now you're wondering (or not): Did Renate not go to the dance?
The answer is: No I didn't go to the dance. Only because I've been asked by Luca, a friend and exchange student from Switzerland. He lives next to Salt Lake City and his homecoming is this week.
You'll see the pictures!
