I've been here now for more than a week and I'm falling in love with my life here more and more.
Before I came here, I thought I would gain a lot of weight (Thanks Harmen) But luckily that vision has changed. The food they eat here contains more fat and isn't as healthy. But luckily there are lots of fruits and vegetables and they don't snack as much as in the Netherlands.
One of the things I struggle with here is the dresscode. All my shorts have to be to the knee and my shoulders have to be covered. It was especially awkward when I was one of the only girls wearing a bikini in the swimming pool. All the others girls had there bellies covered. Ya, then you feel looked at.
The first school week of school was exhausting... Actually school started on Thursday, so I've had just two days of school. But Friday night took all my energy.
First day of school, wauw! I was so nervous! A new school, new classes, new opportunities. The yellow school bus arrived at 7 o'clock. The welcoming comission of seniors handed out free candy, which made me very happy, because I love free candy from strangers. I had to go to the counslers office in the first hour to take my classes: 1 Spanish, 2 Cooking, 3 Precalculus Maths, 4 Yearbook and 5 Sewing. At every hour we did a game to get to know each other. I had to tell five times were I came from. So the whole school knows I'm the new kid. But everyone was very friendly and I am looking forward to next week!
And here is a picture of me and Saige in the bus ^^

Most of the people here never heard of fashion, or the fashion is pretty messed up. The most ugly thing is that every boy wears short and then long socks in their shoes. Awful... But I guess I'll get used to it.
There was a 'Welcome Back' gathering on Thursday morning. There were cheerleaders, we sang the school song and the yearcomissions were introduced.

And now Friday. After I ran five miles, I came home to get ready for the senior party. And yes, I am a senior! It started at six and I got there at seven, due to a new couch that couldn't fit through the door. The MC seniors are so sweet and funny! We started with a BBQ and played Ultimate Frisbee. Then the countdown was over and we started with a flower fight! On the end everyone was white and smelled like pastry. Out of nowhere two boys through an entire tub of ice water over me, which was kind of cold.
After the senior party there was the 'First Chance Dance'. It was a lot of fun! The difference between Dutch and American dances, is that there is a lot more jumping and running involved here.
I am very glad to say that I haven't been homesick yet! Furthermore I am not carsick any more. After all the good news, there comes bad news: The American mosquitoes have decided that Dutch blood is better than American... So I got bit too many times...
In an hour Saige and I are going to play a softball game and we are definitely going to win!
Peace out
